Career Firefighter/EMT

East Valley Fire is always looking for the most qualified candidates to fill vacant/new positions at our agency. We maintain an active list for Entry level Career Firefighter/EMT’s; currently we utilize National Testing Network for our initial testing process/list with further in house testing as the hiring process progresses. East Valley has determined not to establish any set duration of the longevity of a list and reserves the right to seek out new candidates or refresh the list at its discretion at any time. Minimum Qualifications:

  • High-School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must be insurable to drive department vehicles
  • Must have a Washington State EMT-B or National EMT-B + Obtain WA ST certification (condition of employment)
  • Must have a Firefighter 1 IFSAC Certification (International Fire Service Accreditation Congress)
  • NWCG Wildland Firefighter II
  • Preferred candidate will have a strong background in communication
  • Must have excellent organizational skills
  • Must be positive and creative in identifying solutions to problems
  • 21 years of age upon appointment
  • Documented CPAT Test

SUMMER EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY – Seasonal

Yakima County Fire District #4 (East Valley Fire & Rescue) is looking to hire two (2) summer maintenance employees. This will be a 40 hour/week position for the months of June – September. The pay is $18/hour for this position with no anticipated overtime accrual or benefit accrual. The schedule for the maintenance positions will be determined at the time of hire. The maintenance positions will each work the same schedule so as to have a partner to work with throughout their time of employment.

The primary job for this summer help will be to paint all the hydrant bonnets in the EVFD response area. In addition, there will be station, vehicle and equipment maintenance projects assigned. Oversight for the positions will be from the shift Captains, or the ranking officer on a shift (see job description).

Qualified applicants will be allowed to respond to emergency calls for the EVFD as a volunteer with the EVFD to the level of training and certification they possess.

Minimal Requirements:

  • Minimum of eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License with a driving record acceptable to the Fire District’s insurance carrier
  • Must read and write and speak the English language
  • Must be able to pass a background examination including criminal background check

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • $18.00 per hour
