Director of Training & Compliance

The East Valley Fire Department (Yakima County Fire District 4) is seeking a smart, talented, dynamic, team-oriented, Director of Training and Compliance for a growing combination Fire District in the Yakima Valley of Washington State. The person selected will develop and coordinate programs and policies that assure career and volunteer personnel are trained, and competency maintained, so that member duties and responsibilities are performed safety, effectively, and efficiently. This position will also ensure that East Valley Fire Department is in compliance with Washington State statute (WAC 296-305) and applicable NFPA Standards.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • IFSAC/PROBOARD Instructor I
  • IFSAC/PROBOARD Firefighter I
  • ISFSI Training Officer Credential
  • EMT Certification.
  • Strong instructional background
  • Comfortable planning,scheduling, and coordinating
  • Experience developing Fire Officers and Instructors
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office applications
  • Seven meaningful continuous years in the fire service, with three -years as a Fire Officer
  • Impeccable reputation

COMPENSATION PACKAGE

  • 2019 BASE SALARY: $80,145.00 ($36.4 3 per hour)
  • OVER TIME: Occasional
  • VACATION: 80-hours (year one)
  • MEDICAL/DENTAL/VISION: $15,600 annually for selected healthcare.
  • RETIREMENT: Washington State’s retirement program for Law Enforcement Officers and Firefighters (LEOFF II) which accrues at 2% per year of service.
  • VEHICLE: On-duty vehicle provided.

East Valley Fire is always looking for the most qualified candidates to fill vacant/new positions at our agency. We maintain an active list for Entry level Career Firefighter/EMT’s; currently we utilize National Testing Network for our initial testing process/list with further in house testing as the hiring process progresses. East Valley has determined not to establish any set duration of the longevity of a list and reserves the right to seek out new candidates or refresh the list at its discretion at any time. Minimum Qualifications:

  • High-School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must be insurable to drive department vehicles
  • Must have a Washington State EMT-B or National EMT-B + Obtain WA ST certification (condition of employment)
  • Must have a Firefighter 1 IFSAC Certification (International Fire Service Accreditation Congress)
  • NWCG Wildland Firefighter II
  • Preferred candidate will have a strong background in communication
  • Must have excellent organizational skills
  • Must be positive and creative in identifying solutions to problems
  • 21 years of age upon appointment
  • Documented CPAT Test
